Alexandre Zagoskin is Co-Founder of D-Wave Quantum Inc., the world's first commercial quantum computing company, where he served as VP of Research and Chief Scientist. He is currently Reader in Quantum Physics at Loughborough University, specializing in quantum engineering and superconducting quantum technologies.
Zagoskin was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia when he co-founded D-Wave in 1999 with Geordie Rose, Haig Farris, and Bob Wiens. He holds expertise in quantum many-body theory, mesoscopic superconductivity, and quantum information processing.
Zagoskin authored the first monograph on quantum engineering and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles on quantum computing. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and Institute of Physics (UK), and co-authored 23 patents in quantum technology.
As D-Wave's first VP of Research and Chief Scientist, Zagoskin was instrumental in developing the world's first commercial quantum computing devices. D-Wave went public in 2022 and has raised over $300 million, serving customers including NASA, Google, Lockheed Martin, and Volkswagen.
D-Wave demonstrated the first commercial quantum computer in 2007 and launched the D-Wave One in 2011, pioneering quantum annealing technology. The company's systems now feature over 5,000 qubits and have processed more than 200 million problems through their cloud platform.
