Ali Abdalla is Co-Founder at Shotwell.ai, a quality layer platform for robotics data that helps robotics companies build better AI models through multimodal data labeling, collection, and visualization.
Ali holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and built his engineering career at Tesla as a Mechanical Design Engineer on Model S and X HV products, and held internships at iRobot and Northrop Grumman focused on robotic components and product development.
Ali co-founded Gradio in 2019 alongside Abubakar Abid and Dawood Khan, pioneering accessible machine learning tooling that was later acquired by Hugging Face in December 2021.
At Gradio, Ali and the team worked with industry leaders from Hugging Face, Meta AI, and Google, democratizing ML model sharing and demos for developers worldwide before the successful Hugging Face acquisition.
Now at Shotwell.ai, Ali is tackling one of the most critical bottlenecks in the robotics AI stack, operating in a robotics data labeling market projected to grow from $1.42B in 2024 to over $9B by 2033.
