Ali Abid is Co-Founder of Shotwell.ai (YC P26), the quality layer for robotics data that helps robotics companies label, collect, and visualize multimodal data to build better AI models.
Ali studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology and has worked professionally as a software engineer since 2016, previously as a housemate at Stanford where the Gradio founding team was formed.
Ali brings deep expertise in machine learning tooling and data infrastructure, having co-built one of the most widely adopted open-source ML demo frameworks in the world.
Prior to Shotwell.ai, Ali co-founded Gradio in 2019, serving as Lead Engineer, and the company was acquired by Hugging Face in December 2021, marking a landmark exit in open-source AI tooling.
Shotwell.ai, backed by Y Combinator (P26 batch), addresses a critical bottleneck in the robotics industry by providing a frame-by-frame video labeling and data quality platform purpose-built for training embodied AI models.
