Alisa Wu is the 22-year-old solo Founder and CEO of Lucent, an AI infrastructure startup building behavioral datasets for browser-based AI agents. She raised $2 million in pre-seed funding in just 36 hours from top investors including Long Journey Ventures, Horizon, Browder Capital, and Weekend Fund.
Wu was a founding engineer at MagicBrief, an AI advertising platform acquired by Canva for over $20 million. She also founded and sold Stella AI, an AI-powered HSC tutoring platform, to an NSW-based education company in 2024 after just nine months.
Wu famously calls ChatGPT her CTO, pioneering a new approach to solo founding in the AI era. She previously worked as a software engineer at Atlassian building products for millions of developers worldwide.
Lucent is relocating to San Francisco to partner with frontier AI labs and build unique datasets for browser agents that book flights, fill forms, and complete online purchases. Investors describe Wu as having a unique mix of founder experience, deep technical ability, and sharp insight into where AI is headed.
Wu successfully exited her first startup Stella AI which supported thousands of students and partnered with leading Australian education companies including ASX-listed firms. Lucent is positioned to become a foundational player in the future of browser agents, tackling one of AI's most important bottlenecks today.
