Alistair Wilson is the Founder and CEO of Septest Limited, a UK-based medical diagnostics startup developing rapid tests for sepsis and infection, driven by a personal connection to the condition and a mission to equip frontline clinicians with faster, clearer diagnostic insight.
Alistair holds an MChem in Chemistry from the University of York and built his career across several medtech ventures including Genvissa, Aseptic Connectors Limited, Overx Medical, and Captive Devices.
Alistair identified a critical gap in frontline clinical decision-making, noting that life-saving decisions are still routinely made with incomplete information, and set out to change that through rapid diagnostics.
Under his leadership, Septest won the 2023 TBAT Innovation Challenge, completed the 2023 HEARTS Healthcare Accelerator, and was shortlisted for Technology Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
Septest raised approximately GBP 1.1 million in seed funding backed by Oxford Technology and Kappika Ventures, and has completed its first working TRISEP prototype, now advancing toward clinical validation and regulatory approval.
