Ammar Mirjan is Co-Founder and CEO of MESH AG, a Swiss construction technology company and ETH Zurich spin-off that develops robotic and software solutions for automated rebar production, bridging digital design with physical construction.
Ammar completed an apprenticeship as an automation engineer at ABB, earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Bern University of Applied Sciences, an M.Arch from the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL, and a doctorate at ETH Zurich with the pioneering Gramazio Kohler Research group.
With over 10 years of experience in digital fabrication and robotic construction systems, Ammar led a decade-long research program at ETH Zurich that culminated in the world's first technology to combine formwork and reinforcement in a single robotically fabricated system.
Ammar co-founded MESH in 2022 alongside Mattis Koh, securing a CHF 2.9 million seed round backed by global industry leaders including Sika, ABB Robotics, and Shimizu Corporation, marking a pivotal step toward global scale.
MESH's technology can save up to 40% of concrete and 30% of steel in floor slab construction, and has been deployed in landmark projects including the 3D-printed Tor Alva tower and an installation at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
