Anahita Khambata Laverack is Co-Founder and CEO of Oshen, a Plymouth-based ocean robotics company building a persistent sensing layer for the world's oceans using swarms of autonomous C-Star robots.
An Aeronautical Engineering graduate of Imperial College London, Anahita combined her passion for sailing and engineering by attempting the Microtransat Challenge, where she discovered the critical gap in real-time ocean data that inspired Oshen.
Anahita and co-founder Ciaran Dowds bootstrapped Oshen using their own savings, converting a 25-foot sailboat into a floating test lab for two years before seeking venture capital, demonstrating exceptional capital discipline and technical conviction.
Oshen has raised $5 million in a round led by Lunar Ventures with participation from AlbionVC, Twin Track, and Concept Ventures, and has secured a £2 million ARIA-funded project to deploy a 50-strong C-Star constellation in the North Atlantic Subpolar Gyre.
Oshen has grown to nearly 30 employees and is tripling its manufacturing rate to meet demand from navies, weather agencies, and ocean scientists, with its C-Stars proven to survive Category 5 hurricane conditions and deployed by the US Navy.
