Andrea is Co-Founder and CEO at Holoclara, a biotechnology company pioneering worm-derived therapies for allergic and autoimmune diseases.
Andrea earned her MD at USC Keck School of Medicine and PhD at Caltech, where her doctoral research on roundworm pheromones laid the foundation for Holoclara's technology.
Andrea is a physician-scientist who discovered that worm species evolved over 500 million years share a molecular language, with molecules that block disease formation in animal models. Her research was published in PNAS and she holds multiple patents in immunomodulatory compounds.
Andrea co-founded Holoclara in 2017 with Paul Sternberg (Caltech) and Frank Schroeder (Cornell), raised $16M Series A led by BOLD Capital in 2024, and launched the first-ever Phase 1 clinical trial of worm-derived therapeutic HC002 in December 2024.
Andrea won the Emerging Women Founders in Biotech Award, was featured in Forbes' The Prototype, spoke at the Aspen Ideas Festival and UBS Disruptive Technology CEO Summit, and is pioneering a new class of medicines that could transform treatment for millions suffering from chronic inflammatory conditions.
