Anirudh Oppiliappan is Co-Founder and CEO of Tangled Labs, a Helsinki-based next-generation federated social coding platform built on the AT Protocol, positioning itself as an open-source, decentralized alternative to GitHub.
Anirudh studied at SRM University and most recently worked at UpCloud on their Managed Kubernetes product from 2023 to 2025, before co-founding Tangled in 2025 with his brother Akshay.
Anirudh is a passionate advocate for developer sovereignty and open-source infrastructure, believing code collaboration should be as open and social as the web itself, with a deep focus on distributed systems and the Go programming language.
Both Oppiliappan brothers bring extensive experience building large-scale distributed systems and code intelligence platforms at Y Combinator-backed startups, and Anirudh has spoken at major developer conferences including Git Merge in Lisbon.
In its first year, Tangled grew to over 8,000 users and nearly 6,000 repositories entirely organically, and raised a $4.5M seed round backed by byFounders, Bain Capital Crypto, Antler, and angel investors including former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke.
