Ankit Gupta is a General Partner at Y Combinator, where he works with founders building at the edge of AI and biotech.

Ankit earned a joint BA/MS in Computer Science from Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude with highest honors and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He co-founded Reverie Labs (W18), a biotech startup using machine learning for drug discovery.

Ankit published research at ICML and won awards including Speaker Award and Best Poster Award at ICML 2017 Workshop on Computational Biology. He led cross-functional teams spanning machine learning, data science, software engineering, and computational chemistry at Reverie.

Reverie Labs raised $32M in total funding from investors including Ridgeback Capital Management, First Round Capital, and Y Combinator. The company partnered with pharmaceutical giants like Roche and Genentech before being acquired by Ginkgo Bioworks in February 2024.

As CTO of Reverie Labs, Ankit advanced an in-house pipeline of small molecule therapeutics in oncology to clinical trials. After the acquisition, he served as Head of AI/ML Advancement at Ginkgo Bioworks before joining YC as General Partner.
