Ankita Garg is Co-Founder and COO at Varaha, a climate tech company generating carbon credits through nature-based solutions for smallholder farmers across Asia and Africa. She brings over 10 years of experience from global agricultural and biotech companies including Bayer, Monsanto, Covance, and Genentech, with a track record of leading business portfolios exceeding $100 million.
Ankita worked across the USA, Germany, and India in agricultural biotechnology, where she witnessed firsthand the climate challenges faced by smallholder farmers compared to mechanized Western farms. Her background in biotechnology and corporate experience helped bridge the gap between science, execution, and farmer realities.
As a female entrepreneur in climate tech, Ankita overcame skepticism by building scalable MRV systems that ensure scientific rigor while remaining farmer-friendly. She holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Since founding Varaha in 2022, Ankita has helped the company raise over $33 million in equity, secure landmark deals with Google and Microsoft, and onboard over 100,000 farmers covering 1 million acres. The company has sequestered over 2 million tons of carbon and recently closed a $45 million Series B round led by WestBridge Capital.
Under Ankita's leadership as COO, Varaha operates across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Ivory Coast, working with 170,000 farmers across 1.7 million acres. Varaha champions diversity with 24% women workforce and has empowered over 7,000 women through its projects, revolutionizing climate-smart agriculture for smallholder farmers.
