Anson Whitmer, PhD is the Co-Founder and CEO of The Path, a global AI therapy platform engineered to deliver safe, personalized mental wellness support at scale.
Whitmer earned a PhD in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Colorado at Boulder and completed postdoctoral studies in Cognitive Science and Clinical Neuroscience at Stanford University, before joining Calm as a founding member and Head of Data Science and AI.
Driven by the personal loss of two close family members to suicide, Whitmer channeled his grief into a mission to make evidence-based psychological support universally accessible, believing AI can close the gap where human therapists cannot reach.
Prior to The Path, Whitmer served as Head of Data Science and AI at Calm, one of the world's leading mindfulness apps with over 100 million downloads, and has also held roles at AKQA, Lumos Labs (Lumosity), and Heartcoins.
The Path launched out of stealth with $14.3M in seed funding led by Prime Movers Lab, and its proprietary AI therapy platform achieved a best-in-class clinical safety score of 95 on the Vera-MH benchmark, far surpassing the industry baseline of 65 set by top general-purpose models.
