Antonio Mallia is Founder and CEO of Seltz, a San Francisco-based AI infrastructure startup building the web knowledge layer for AI agents and large language models.
An Italian researcher by training, Antonio earned his PhD in Computer Science at NYU with a focus on information retrieval, then built expertise at Amazon's AGI team, Pinecone, Bloomberg, and Italy's National Research Council (CNR).
Antonio identified the gap in agentic search while working on Alexa's question answering engine at Amazon, realizing the consumer of search had shifted from humans to machines, a conviction that became the thesis behind Seltz.
At Seltz, Antonio leads a lean, globally distributed team of PhDs and ex-Amazon researchers, having shipped a production-ready API within eight months and secured $12.5M in seed funding from Speedinvest, B Capital, and Bain's venture arm.
Seltz crawls hundreds of millions of pages daily with sub-200ms response times, has achieved a six-fold increase in developer sign-ups since API launch, and was selected as one of seven European AI startups for the AWS and NVIDIA Startup Village at VivaTech 2026.
