
Arindrajit Chowdhury is the Co-Founder and CEO of InspeCity Space Laboratories, an Indian deep-tech spacetech startup pioneering in-orbit satellite servicing, autonomous robotics, and sustainable space infrastructure.
Chowdhury earned his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, completed his PhD from Penn State University in 2010, and went on to serve as an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Bombay, where his research spanned combustion, monopropellants, and high-energy materials.
A published researcher cited over 2,100 times, Chowdhury brings rare academic depth to deep-tech entrepreneurship, bridging rigorous propulsion science with a bold vision for building human habitats beyond Earth.
In 2022, Chowdhury co-founded InspeCity alongside IIT Bombay alumnus Tausif Shaikh, and has since led the company to raise over $17.7M across 6 funding rounds from investors including Speciale Invest, Antler India, Shastra VC, and Ashish Kacholia, while also signing the 250th iDEX contract with India's Ministry of Defence.
InspeCity has grown to 47 employees and is developing flagship platforms VEDA and RIG for satellite life-extension and debris mitigation, positioning itself as India's first fully vertically integrated in-orbit servicing company with active Indo-Pacific collaborations.
