
Arun Majumdar is Co-Founder of GridCARE, an AI-powered platform unlocking hidden grid capacity to accelerate power delivery for AI data centers, and serves as the inaugural Dean of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability.
Dr. Majumdar earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay and his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, and built a distinguished career spanning academia, the U.S. federal government, and Silicon Valley.
He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, U.S. National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, reflecting his standing as one of the world's foremost energy scientists.
Nominated by President Obama, Dr. Majumdar served as the Founding Director of ARPA-E and Acting Under Secretary of Energy, before becoming VP of Energy at Google where he led initiatives at the intersection of data, computing, and the electricity grid.
GridCARE has raised $77.5M across Seed and Series A rounds, is named to Fast Company's World's Most Innovative Companies for 2026, and is actively unlocking over 2 gigawatts of AI compute capacity across more than a dozen U.S. markets.
