Beatrice Ionascu is Co-Founder and CTO of imagi (formerly imagiLabs), a Swedish EdTech startup on a mission to make computer science and AI literacy as essential and accessible as reading and math for K-12 students worldwide.
Beatrice studied at NYU Abu Dhabi, where she co-founded a club for empowering women in STEM, before earning her Master's degree at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and gaining industry experience at Microsoft, Spotify, and Aiwizo.
A diversity advocate and engineer-educator hybrid, Beatrice leverages deep expertise in machine learning, Python, C++, and MATLAB to build inclusive, gender-intentional coding tools that resonate with girls and underrepresented learners.
Beatrice co-founded imagi in 2018 alongside Dora Palfi, following a user-centered research project at KTH, and has since led the technical development of the imagiCharm hardware device, the imagi mobile app, and the imagi Edu platform for teachers.
Under her technical leadership, imagi has empowered over 360,000 students worldwide, secured a $4.5M seed round from Brighteye Ventures, Day One Capital, and Will.i.am, and partnered with Lovable and OpenAI to bring AI literacy into K-12 classrooms.
