Ben Swerdlow is Co-Founder and CEO of Freestyle (YC S24), a cloud infrastructure platform that runs and deploys code written by AI agents, purpose-built for the next generation of AI-native software development.
Ben learned to code in elementary school, led the frontend team for the World Health Organization's COVID-19 App Collective, then dropped out of UChicago to join Apple as a Senior Engineer in Conversational Engineering at age 19.
Ben's frustration with poor backend developer tooling at Apple directly inspired Freestyle, which he built to eliminate the unnecessary friction between frontend and backend development in a TypeScript-first world.
Prior to Freestyle, Ben spent approximately two years at Apple delivering multiple production-scale projects, and also contributed to organizations including Hack For LA and a startup called Backyard, gaining deep expertise in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
Freestyle, backed by Y Combinator's S24 batch, has gained rapid developer traction with its open-source framework and sandbox environment for AI coding agents, enabling developers to build and ship full-stack apps dramatically faster.
