Benedict Quartey is Co-Founder at SuperRadiant, a YC-backed robotics company building Embodied Scientific Intelligence: general-purpose robotic experimentalists that observe, hypothesize, and run experiments in the real world.
Benedict earned his PhD in Computer Science from Brown University, where he was advised by Professor George Konidaris in the Intelligent Robot Lab, focusing on scalable trusted autonomy and instruction-following robots. He also conducted research at the Boston Dynamics Robotics and AI Institute.
Benedict's doctoral thesis, 'Scaling Trusted Autonomy,' explored building generally capable robots whose decisions remain verifiable and interpretable. His peer-reviewed work, including a Best Paper Finalist at ICRA 2025, bridges language, perception, and robotics.
Prior to SuperRadiant, Benedict served as a founding R&D engineer at one of the first startups applying NLP and conversational AI to Fintech in Africa, where he developed speech-driven banking technology for low-resource languages and secured a deployment partnership with pan-African bank Ecobank.
SuperRadiant, backed by Y Combinator (F26), is an active 3-person team in San Francisco building robotic systems that retrofit into existing scientific workflows and adapt to new ones, targeting sectors including biotechnology, energy, and advanced materials.
