Brian Singer is Co-Founder and CEO of Incalmo, an autonomous cybersecurity company building next-generation AI-driven systems for network attack and defense. He earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, advised by leading security researchers Lujo Bauer and Vyas Sekar at CMU's CyLab Security and Privacy Institute.
Brian co-founded ZeroWheel and served as its CTO for 5 years before pursuing his doctorate, and earlier worked as a Creative Technologist at Google's Creative Lab in 2017 developing machine learning signal processing algorithms.
Brian pioneered the Incalmo research framework in collaboration with Anthropic, demonstrating that LLMs integrated with a high-level abstraction layer could autonomously execute end-to-end multi-host network attacks. His work bridges AI and cybersecurity, reflecting his belief that the field must shift from human-operated to fully autonomous defense systems.
Incalmo was a finalist at the RSAC 2026 Launch Pad competition and is a partner of the CyLab Venture Network; the company closed a pre-seed funding round shortly after its founding in 2025. Brian's research has been covered by major outlets including Cybersecurity Dive and CIO Dive, and his papers are in submission at top academic venues.
Incalmo's LLM-assisted red teaming system achieved at least partial attack success in 9 out of 10 enterprise network environments tested, including scenarios modeled on real-world breaches like Equifax and Colonial Pipeline.
