Charles McManus is Co-Founder and Board Director at ClearBank, the UK's first new clearing bank in over 250 years, providing cloud-based banking infrastructure and real-time payment solutions to over 250 financial institutions across the UK and Europe.

Charles has over 30 years of international banking experience, serving as CFO for Retail at Ulster Bank (part of Royal Bank of Scotland Group) and spending 13 years at Royal Bank of Canada where he became CFO for Europe and Asia and Global Head of Product Control.

Charles co-founded ClearBank in 2015 with Nick Ogden and served as CEO until 2025, leading the company to profitability in 2023. He remains co-chair of the Innovate Finance Unicorn Council and serves on ClearBank's Group Board.

Under Charles's leadership, ClearBank expanded to serve over 250 customers across the UK and Europe, achieved profitability in 2023, and secured a European banking license. The company raised over 477 million dollars and reached near-unicorn valuation status.

ClearBank became the first new clearing bank in 250 years, processing payments for major fintechs and banks while achieving sustained growth and recognition as one of the UK's fastest-growing tech companies for four consecutive years. Charles recently invested in and chairs Superset, a stablecoin infrastructure company.
