Clark Barrett is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of &Truth, where he co-leads the technical work on a universal verification machine that mathematically proves code is safe, secure, and correct.
Clark earned his BS in electrical engineering at Brigham Young University and his PhD at Stanford in 2003, where his dissertation introduced Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT). He was an NYU professor for about 14 years before joining Stanford in 2016.
He is the Corbel Professor of Computer Science at Stanford, director of the Stanford Center for Automated Reasoning, and founding co-director of the Stanford Center for AI Safety. He is an ACM Fellow, a two-time CAV award winner, and project lead for the cvc5 solver.
Clark helped build one of the first industrially successful assertion-based hardware verification toolsets at 0-In Design Automation, now part of Siemens. He has also worked as a visiting scientist at Google, a consultant at Apple and Meta, and an Amazon scholar at AWS.
&Truth emerged from stealth in October 2026 with $70M in seed funding and offices in Palo Alto and Singapore. The company estimates AI can speed up formal verification by at least 100x, with its proof automation adding another 100x.
