
Colin South is CEO of ArkeaBio, a climate biotech company pioneering the world's first methane-reducing vaccine for livestock to combat agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.
Colin holds a PhD in Bioprocess Engineering from Dartmouth College and has 25+ years of experience in agricultural biotechnology, previously serving as CEO of Novogy (acquired by TOTAL in 2014), founding President of Mascoma Corporation, and VP of Strategy at Zymergen.
Colin is recognized as a thought leader in bioenergy and alternative fuels, with extensive experience in bioprocessing, synthetic biology, and the dairy industry. He has led multiple biotech companies through growth and successful exits.
Under Colin's leadership since 2022, ArkeaBio raised $45.5M from investors including Breakthrough Energy Ventures, with the company achieving 10-15% methane reduction in early trials. He previously built Novogy into a major biochemicals producer before its acquisition.
ArkeaBio is developing the first vaccine to reduce enteric methane emissions responsible for 6% of global greenhouse gases, with the potential to reach all the world's cattle through existing farming practices. Colin's career spans multiple successful ventures in biofuels, biochemicals, and climate tech innovation.
