Daria Stepanova is the Co-founder and CEO of AIRMO, a German SpaceTech startup developing the world's most advanced satellite-based greenhouse gas monitoring system, focused on methane and CO2 emissions detection for the global energy sector.
Daria holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from BMSTU and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Mechanics, and spent over a decade at German Orbital Systems as CTO and aerospace engineer, contributing to 12 successful satellite launches across earth observation and IoT missions.
A 4th-time serial entrepreneur, Daria identified a critical gap in actionable emissions data while discussing carbon footprint management with peers, and set out to apply small-satellite technology to close it at scale.
Under Daria's leadership, AIRMO secured a pre-seed round of 5.2M euros in 2023 backed by the European Space Agency, followed by a 5M euro seed round in 2026 led by Ananda Impact Ventures, with clients including Uniper and validators such as the OSCE.
AIRMO's proprietary spectrometer-LiDAR payload is twice as accurate as existing systems, capable of detecting a methane leak the size of a car from 500 km in space, with ambitions to monitor 12 million energy assets worldwide via a 12-satellite constellation launching in 2027.
