
Dario Amodei is Co-Founder and CEO at Anthropic, the company behind the large language model series Claude. In 2025, Time magazine listed Amodei as one of the world's 100 most influential people and named him one of the Architects of AI for Time's Person of the Year.
Amodei earned his undergraduate degree in physics from Stanford University and holds a PhD in biophysics from Princeton University, where he studied electrophysiology of neural circuits. He was previously the vice president of research at OpenAI.
Amodei is the co-inventor of reinforcement learning from human feedback. In October 2024, he published an essay titled Machines of Loving Grace, and in January 2026, published The Adolescence of Technology, which focuses on AI risks.
In 2021, Dario and his sister, Daniela, founded Anthropic along with other former senior members of OpenAI. In September 2025, Anthropic completed a Series F funding round, raising $13 billion at a post-money valuation of $183 billion, co-led by Iconiq Capital, Fidelity Management & Research, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Anthropic is the fastest-growing software company in history, with revenue growing from a $1B to $7B run rate over the last nine months. Anthropic now serves over 300,000 business customers, and large accounts have grown nearly 7x in the past year.
