
Dawn Song is a Professor of Computer Science at UC Berkeley and Co-Director of Berkeley Center for Responsible Decentralized Intelligence, where she created CyberGym, a large-scale AI cybersecurity evaluation framework featuring 1,507 real-world vulnerabilities across 188 software projects.
Song earned her B.S. from Tsinghua University, M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University, and Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. She was a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon from 2002 to 2007 before joining UC Berkeley.
Song is a MacArthur Fellow, Guggenheim Fellow, ACM Fellow, IEEE Fellow, and elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is recognized as the most cited scholar in computer security and has received over 10 Test-of-Time Awards and Best Paper Awards.
Song co-founded Oasis Labs in 2018, a privacy-first blockchain platform that raised $48M from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and Binance Labs. She also founded Ensighta Security (acquired by FireEye) and co-founded Menlo Security.
CyberGym has been adopted by leading AI labs including Anthropic for evaluating frontier AI models, with AI agents discovering 15 zero-days in major open-source projects and 35 previously unknown vulnerabilities. Song has been cited over 154,000 times and was named to the Female Founder 100 List and Wired25 List of Innovators.
