Dr. Jeremie LaRouche is Co-Founder of SiftMed, an AI-powered Intelligent Document Processing platform transforming how medical records are reviewed for insurance, legal, and healthcare professionals.
Dr. LaRouche holds 16 years of post-secondary education (B.Com, MD, MSc, FRCSC) from the University of Toronto and served as a Navigation Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy before becoming an orthopaedic trauma and spine surgeon at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopaedics at UCSF.
The idea for SiftMed was born from a pivotal medico-legal case in which Dr. LaRouche spent days manually sifting through 13,151 pages of records to uncover a critical handwritten nurse's note that changed the outcome of a paralysis claim, proving that life-changing facts can be buried in mountains of unstructured medical data.
Dr. LaRouche co-founded SiftMed in 2020 alongside CEO Holly Hill, bringing his expertise as a practicing orthopaedic surgeon and independent medical examiner to build a platform that uses NLP, OCR, and AI to automatically organize and analyze medical files, cutting review time by 50%.
SiftMed has raised over $10 million CAD in total funding, earned the techNL Startup of the Year award, and serves a growing base of insurance carriers, law firms, and independent medical examiners across Canada and the United States.
