
Drew Baglino is Founder and CEO of Heron Power, an energy infrastructure company developing solid-state transformers to modernize the electrical grid for data centers, solar, and battery storage.
Drew holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University with honors in environmental science and public policy. He spent 18 years at Tesla, rising from electrical engineer in 2006 to Senior Vice President of Powertrain and Energy Engineering.
Drew designed the dual motor system for Tesla Model S and formed Tesla's energy engineering organization in 2014, launching multiple iterations of Powerwall, Powerpack, and Megapack. He co-hosted Tesla earnings calls and presented at major company events alongside Elon Musk.
Heron Power raised $38M Series A in May 2025 led by Capricorn Investment Group, followed by $140M Series B in February 2026 co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Breakthrough Energy Ventures. The company has secured 50 gigawatts of orders from over a dozen customers including Intersect Power and Crusoe.
Heron Power is building a 40-gigawatt US manufacturing facility capable of producing transformers equivalent to half the peak power demand of Texas, targeting full-scale production in 2027 with hundreds of megawatts produced by year end.
