
Dr. Alan D. Roth is the CEO of Oxford Drug Design, an AI-powered drug discovery company spun out of the University of Oxford, where he leads the expansion of its generative AI and tRNA synthetase platform to develop first-in-class cancer therapeutics.
Alan earned his BA from Cornell University, his PhD in organic chemistry from Columbia University, and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in medicinal chemistry at the University of Oxford.
Alan was awarded the Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence at Oxford and serves as a Visiting Lecturer in scientific entrepreneurship, and is multilingual with proficiency in French, Italian, Spanish, German, and English.
His career spans chemist at Merck in New Lead Discovery, consultant at McKinsey, Director at Commerzbank Asset Management overseeing global bio-investments, and co-founder and first CEO/CFO of Chiral Quest, a publicly listed chiral pharmaceuticals company.
Under Alan's leadership, Oxford Drug Design achieved its first in vivo validation of AI-designed cancer therapeutics, demonstrating clear tumour regression in mouse xenograft trials, and is now collaborating with Cancer Research UK Scotland Institute on further oncology studies.
