Alex Mackenzie is Co-Founder and Managing Director at Ryft, a London and Manchester-based fintech platform transforming embedded payments for marketplaces, digital platforms, and acquiring banks.

Alex scaled a marketplace to over one million users and co-founded Butlr, a restaurant ordering app that was acquired by OrderPay in 2021, before channelling those hard-won insights into building Ryft.

Witnessing first-hand how limited and costly payment options held platforms back, Alex set out to build a compliant, cost-effective alternative to incumbents like Stripe Connect and Adyen.

At Ryft, Alex leads commercial growth and acquiring bank partnerships, and previously held roles at THG as Program Manager and at the BBC as a Recruitment Manager, and is an active angel investor.

Ryft has raised over £20M including a Series B in 2026, serves more than 6,500 businesses, tripled its processing volume in a single year, and holds partnerships with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Global Payments.
