Alexander Amini is Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Liquid AI, an MIT spinout building efficient Liquid Foundation Models as an alternative to transformer-based AI. He is also an AI Scientist and Research Affiliate at MIT.
Alexander earned his Bachelor's, Master's and PhD in Computer Science from MIT, working at CSAIL under Prof. Daniela Rus. He co-founded Themis AI, which makes AI models uncertainty-aware so they know when they do not know.
His research focuses on adaptive autonomous agents capable of safe decision making in uncertain environments, including liquid time-constant networks and deep evidential regression. He is the creator and lead lecturer of MIT 6.S191: Introduction to Deep Learning.
Liquid AI was founded in 2023 and raised a $250M Series A led by AMD at a valuation of over $2B. His inventions have been deployed on autonomous vehicles and in medical drug discovery.
His MIT deep learning lectures have amassed over 10 million views from more than 100,000 registered students worldwide. Liquid AI's models target efficient on-device and enterprise deployment across automotive, consumer electronics, finance and healthcare.
