
Bernt Øivind Børnich is the Founder and CEO of 1X Technologies, a Norwegian-American AI and robotics company pioneering general-purpose humanoid robots designed to coexist with and elevate humanity.
Bernt developed a passion for electromechanics from age 11, earned a bachelor's degree in Robotics and Nanoelectronics from the University of Oslo, and spent over 23 years building Pixavi, a tech company he founded as a direct outcome of his MSc studies.
A self-described science nerd and roboticist, Bernt brings deep cross-disciplinary expertise spanning software architecture, control algorithms, mechanics design, motor design, and electronics, and is the inventor of 1X's proprietary Revo1 servo motor.
Bernt founded 1X in 2014 as Halodi Robotics in Moss, Norway, rebranded it to 1X in 2022, and has since secured over $126M in funding from world-class investors including the OpenAI Startup Fund, EQT Ventures, Tiger Global, and Samsung NEXT.
1X has deployed humanoid robots globally for industrial and enterprise use, launched NEO as the world's first consumer-ready humanoid robot with its first production year selling out in five days, and is targeting a $1B raise at a $10B valuation to scale mass production.
