Carina Hong is the Founder and CEO of Axiom Math, a Palo Alto-based AI startup on a mission to build mathematical superintelligence through formally verified AI reasoning systems.
A Chinese-American prodigy born in Guangzhou, Carina completed dual degrees in Mathematics and Physics at MIT in just three years, earned a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford for a master's in computational neuroscience, and later enrolled in a joint Stanford Law and Math PhD program before dropping out to found Axiom.
Carina is the recipient of the Frank and Brennie Morgan Prize, the highest honor for undergraduate mathematical research in North America, and published nine peer-reviewed papers at MIT spanning number theory, combinatorics, and theoretical computer science.
Under her leadership, Axiom Math raised $64M in Seed funding in September 2025 and followed with a $200M Series A in March 2026, reaching a $1.6B valuation in under a year, backed by Menlo Ventures, B Capital, Greycroft, and Madrona.
Axiom's AI system achieved a perfect score on the Putnam Mathematical Competition, set a world record on bounded gaps between primes, and autonomously proved long-standing open conjectures including Erdos problem 124, with published papers accepted to leading mathematics journals.
