
Christian Grimm is Co-Founder and Lead Systems Engineer at ATMOS Space Cargo, a European space logistics company developing reusable orbital return vehicles. He holds a PhD in Production Engineering and a double MSc in Space Science and Technology and Astronautics and Space Engineering.
Christian worked for over 14 years in aerospace engineering at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Bremen, where he served as deputy head of the Department of Landing and Exploration Technologies, contributing to missions to the Moon, Mars, and asteroids.
Christian led multiple successful space projects at DLR including asteroid missions and lunar landers. He is passionate about NewSpace and advocates for new leadership and agile methodologies in the space industry.
ATMOS Space Cargo raised 25.7M euros in Series A funding led by Balnord and Expansion Ventures in April 2025. The company partnered with Rocket Factory Augsburg and Yuri to launch EVA, the world's first end-to-end microgravity service for biotech research.
Christian leads ATMOS's technical teams through development, production, and launch readiness of the PHOENIX Return Systems. The PHOENIX 2 vehicle is scheduled to fly in 2026, establishing Europe's first routine orbital return infrastructure with controlled water landings near the Azores.
