Dan Danilatos is Co-Founder and CEO at Neara, an AI-powered digital twin platform transforming critical infrastructure management for global utilities. Neara was named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies in 2024.
Dan studied Software Engineering at the University of New South Wales and worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Google from 2008 to 2012, where he led development of the world's first web-based real-time collaborative rich text editor for Google Wave. He also worked on projects at Dropbox and Canva.
Dan founded Neara in 2016 (originally as Power Lines Pro) to democratize engineering by creating 3D network-wide models that help utilities simulate real-world scenarios and mitigate risks from severe weather and climate change. His vision evolved from observing inefficiencies in existing power line infrastructure design software.
Neara has raised $62.2M across Series A through Series C funding from investors including EQT, Partners Group, Square Peg Capital, Prosus Ventures, and Skip Capital. The company has modeled over 12 million infrastructure assets across more than 1.5 million square miles spanning four continents.
Neara's platform enables utilities to identify and reduce risks 9x faster, restore power 3x faster following outages, and accelerate new infrastructure deployment by 85%. Global customers include Southern California Edison, CenterPoint Energy, ESB Networks, Scottish Power, and major Australian utilities.
