
Dan Roelker is Co-Founder and CEO of Observable Space, a vertically integrated space technology company building advanced optical systems for laser communications, ground-based sensing, and in-space payloads.
Dan served as VP of Software Engineering at SpaceX, reporting directly to the CEO, and later as VP of Engineering at OpenSea, before founding OurSky, the space-data developer platform that merged with PlaneWave Instruments to create Observable Space.
Dan holds a BS in Mathematics and Philosophy and has been a Chief Technology Advisor at CSIS's Wadhwani Center, bridging technical strategy, public policy, and commercialization in the space sector.
Under Dan's leadership, Observable Space closed a $90M Series A led by Lux Capital and secured a $94M sole-sourced U.S. Space Force IDIQ contract, with clients including NASA, the U.S. Space Force, and Raytheon.
Observable Space's platform has executed 2.6M automated tasks, tracked over 20M targets, and logged 84,000 hours of continuous orbital monitoring, while growing to more than 175 employees across Los Angeles and Detroit.
