David Sinclair, PhD, AO is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board at Life Biosciences, a clinical-stage biotech pioneering partial epigenetic reprogramming therapies to reverse age-related diseases. He is also a tenured Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and co-Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging.
Sinclair earned his PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of New South Wales in 1995, then conducted postdoctoral research at MIT before joining Harvard Medical School in 1999, where he has led groundbreaking aging research for over two decades.
Sinclair pioneered the Information Theory of Aging, proposing that aging results from the loss of epigenetic information, a reversible process. He has published over 200 scientific papers, holds co-inventor status on over 50 patents, and authored the New York Times bestselling book Lifespan: Why We Age and Why We Don't Have To.
Sinclair has co-founded more than a dozen biotech companies including Sirtris Pharmaceuticals (acquired by GlaxoSmithKline), Genocea, CohBar, MetroBiotech, and Life Biosciences, four of which have gone public. Life Biosciences secured FDA approval in January 2026 for the first-ever human clinical trial using partial epigenetic reprogramming to treat optic neuropathies.
Life Biosciences has raised over $158 million in funding including an $82 million Series C, and is regarded as a frontrunner in the cellular rejuvenation space. Sinclair was named one of TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2014 and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2018.
