Deniz Kavi is Co-Founder and CEO at Tamarind Bio, an AI inference platform that provides computational biology tools for drug discovery. The platform serves over 100 biotech companies, including 8 of the top 20 pharma companies like Bayer and Boehringer Ingelheim.

Deniz studied Computer Science at Stanford University, where he conducted computational biology research and worked as a software engineer at Stanford School of Medicine. He previously worked at AWS and as a machine learning researcher at Stanford.

Deniz experienced firsthand the inefficiencies of bioinformatics tools while at Stanford, where he was hired to manually run computational models for lab collaborators. This insight led him to co-found Tamarind with Sherry Liu in 2023.

Tamarind Bio raised $13.6M Series A led by Dimension Capital in 2025, following a seed round from Y Combinator. The platform gained 600 users in its first month and now hosts over 200 models for protein design, structure prediction, and molecular docking.

Tamarind Bio is used by 1,000+ scientists at institutions including Stanford, Harvard, and Oxford, and serves dozens of biotech and top 20 pharma companies. The platform has expanded to support antibodies, peptides, small molecules, enzymes, and radiopharmaceuticals.
