Dr.-Ing. Lukas Werling is CEO and Co-Founder at InSpacePropulsion Technologies (ISPTech), a German space tech company developing non-toxic propulsion systems for spacecraft of all sizes. ISPTech is pioneering advanced propulsion solutions to enable agile in-orbit maneuvering for satellites, landers, and capsules.
Lukas earned his Dr.-Ing. in Aerospace Engineering and spent 14 years at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) as engineer, head of test bench, group leader, project manager, and deputy head of the Satellite and Orbital Propulsion Department. He published over 50 papers on advanced rocket propellants and conducted thousands of hot firing tests at DLR facilities.
Lukas holds key patents in propulsion technology and led the development of ISPTech's HyNOx and HIP_11 propulsion systems based on over 10 years of R&D at DLR. He studied at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and University of Stuttgart.
ISPTech raised a 2M Euro pre-seed in 2024 and a 5.5M Euro seed round in 2026 from investors including Join Capital, HTGF, Faber, and First Momentum Ventures. The company secured its first customer contracts and is preparing its first small-satellite mission launch in 2026.
ISPTech is addressing the growing space mobility market with propulsion systems that replace highly toxic hydrazine propellants, offering safer, more affordable solutions for satellite manufacturers and mission operators. The company is expanding manufacturing capabilities to scale from 4-5 propulsion systems annually to dozens by decade end.
